Miguel Heras Castro

Chairman of the Board

Mr. Heras, who has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2015, was elected Chairman in 2019. Mr. Heras is the Founder and Managing Partner of MKH Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in Florida, U.S.A. Since 1999, he has served as Managing Director and as a Board director of Inversiones Bahia, Ltd. in Panama, the largest investment group in Central America and which focuses on the financial, infrastructure, energy, real estate, and communications markets.

Mr. Heras currently serves on the boards of Tigo Panamá, Avelo Airlines, Copa Colombia, Televisora Nacional and Bahía Motors. He is also a member of the Executive Board for Latin America of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is Vice President of the Board of the Panama Food Bank Foundation. Mr. Heras obtained extensive knowledge and experience in the banking industry while serving as a member of the Board of Directors and Asset-Liability Committee of Banco Continental de Panamá for more than 5 years. Mr. Heras structured the acquisition of several companies and banking institutions during his career, and in 2007 led negotiations to merge the banking businesses of Banco Continental de Panamá and Banco General, which transformed Banco General into one of the largest banks in Central America. In addition, Mr. Heras has been a member of the Board of Directors of Amnet Telecommunications Holdings, Cable and Wireless (Panama) Inc. and the Panamanian Stock Exchange. Mr. Heras was also Minister of the Treasury of the Republic of Panama and President of the Council on Foreign Trade from 1996 to 1998. He served as Vice Minister of the Treasury from 1994 to 1996.

Mr. Heras holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jorge Salas

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Mr. Salas has served as Chief Executive Officer of Bladex since March 2020. Previously he was Chief Executive Officer, President, and Director at Banesco USA from 2014 to January 2020. Mr. Salas joined Banesco USA from Banesco Panama, where he was President and CEO beginning in 2008.

Before Banesco Panama, he served as Vice President of corporate banking for the Banesco Group and as General Manager of TodoTicket, Banesco’s electronic payment affiliate. Earlier in his career, Mr. Salas was an executive with the Inter-American Investment Corporation, part of the Inter-American Development Bank Group.

Mr. Salas holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas and both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago.

Olazhir Ledezma

Chief Strategy Officer (CSO)

Mr. Ledezma has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer of Bladex since July 2021.

He joined Bladex from Partners in Performance, where he was a Director and drove the efficiency levels and operational transformations of complex organizations. Prior to Partners in Performance, Mr. Ledezma was Vice President – Commercial Planning at Belcorp in Lima, Peru, from 2012 to 2014. Earlier he was a Partner at McKinsey & Co. for 14 years and a Brand Manager at Heinz from 1994 to 1996.

Mr. Ledezma holds two Master’s Degrees, one in Business Administration and another in Manufacturing Engineering, both from the University of Michigan (USA).

Ana Graciela de Méndez

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Mrs. Mendez has been Bladex’s CFO since December 2017. In 1990, she joined the Bank as an analyst in its Economics department.

Mrs. Mendez’s extensive career at Bladex includes diverse roles such as Senior Vice President of Finance, acting as an alternate to the CFO and overseeing Investor Relations; Head of Financial Planning and Analysis; Commercial Relationship Manager for the Central America Region; and other roles within the Bank’s Finance, Commercial and Economic areas.

Mrs. Mendez holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from Albertus Magnus College (USA) and a master’s degree in Finance from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University (USA) and from the Business School at Universidad Francisco Marroquin (Guatemala). She also completed the Advanced Management Program of the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley (USA).

Alejandro Tizzoni

Chief Risk Officer (CRO)

Mr. Tizzoni has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Risk Officer of Bladex since May 2016. Previously he served in various capacities within the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management Department, as Senior Vice President from 2012 to 2016, Vice President from 2008 to 2012 and Senior Analyst from 2006 to 2008. From 1997 to 2006, Mr. Tizzoni worked in credit risk areas in banking and the international private sector in Argentina and Chile.

Mr. Tizzoni is a Certified Public Accountant, is certified as a FIBA Anti-Money Laundering associate (AMLCA) by Florida International University and has completed the Fintech Program at the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford. In addition, he has a master’s degree in Enterprise Risk Management from the NYU Stern School of Business, an MBA from the University of Louisville, as well as a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Samuel Canineu

Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)

Mr. Canineu has served as Bladex´s Chief Commercial Officer since August 2021. Between 2003 and 2020, Mr. Canineu held various positions in the ING Group in the Americas in Commodity Finance (Sao Paulo), Leverage Finance (New York), Loan Syndications (as Team Head for Latam, New York). As CEO of Brazil, his last post at ING, Mr. Canineu led a commercial banking operation (under a full local bank license) with nearly US$10 billion of assets and operating in lending, financial markets, and investment banking. During Mr. Canineu’s tenure as CEO, ING Brazil grew its local asset base by over 100%, its net profit by over 150%, and closed Latam´s first Sustainability Improvement Loan as well as the region’s first loan created under Green Loan Principles

Mr. Canineu is a frequent speaker at many conferences and in the media, with regard to the Debt Markets, Trade and Structured Commodity Finance, Sustainability Finance, Project Finance, LBOs, Fintech and Leadership, among other subjects.

Mr. Canineu holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Escola de Administracao de Sao Paulo – Fundacao Getulio Vargas and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University in New York, where he graduated with Honors and Distinction.

Eduardo Vivone

Executive VP, Treasury and Capital Markets

Eduardo Vivone has served as Executive Vice President, Treasury and Capital Markets since February 2018. He was Senior Vice President, Head of Treasury, from September 2013, and Senior Vice President, Funding from April through August 2013.

Before joining the Bank, Mr. Vivone served as Head of Global Markets for HSBC Bank Panama from 2010 to 2012; Regional Head, Government Sector – Global Banking, Americas for HSBC Securities, New York from 2007 to 2010; Head of Treasury for HSBC Bank, Spain from 2003 to 2007; Head of Balance Sheet Management and Forward Foreign Exchange for HSBC Bank, Argentina from 1998 to 2003.

Mr. Vivone began his professional career at the former Banco Roberts, Buenos Aires, where he served in different capacities between 1990 and 1998 in the Commercial and Corporate Banking units as well as in Treasury and Capital Markets.

Mr. Vivone is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a master’s degree in Finance from the University of CEMA, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a Bachelor´s degree in Accounting from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Carlos Raad

Chief Investor Relations Officer (CIRO)

Mr. Raad has been Executive Vice President, Chief Investor Relations Officer at Bladex since June 2022.

Previously, he worked in various capacities at Bancolombia: Senior Trader (2005 to 2014), Manager of Structured Operations (2014 to 2020), and Director of Investor Relations (2020 to 2022).

Mr. Raad holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and a master's degree in Business Administration, both from Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia. He is also a graduate of the International MBA Exchange Program at IE Business School, Madrid, Spain.
